Generosity is more than a financial choice — it’s a sacred journey that forms and transforms us. In a fast-paced world focused on getting more, generosity calls us to slow down and live with purpose. The Holy Spirit guides our path, inviting us to work together in love and help one another through acts of generosity.

Building God’s Kingdom

When we give, we move beyond sharing wealth; we help build God’s kingdom on earth by loving others as he has loved us. Jesus gave us clear directives: love God above all things and love your neighbor as yourself. We are called into community and relationship, to support our neighbors, build community, and create a legacy of faith for the future. Saint Thérèse of Lisieux expressed it beautifully: “We must do everything we are obliged to do; give without reckoning… produce all the good works that lie within our strength — out of love for God.”

In my role as president of the Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota (CCF), I’ve had the privilege to witness how generosity draws people closer to God and deepens their sense of connection and purpose. Each person’s journey is unique— shaped by your faith, your experiences, and the light God has placed in your heart to share.

A Giving with Intention and Purpose

Being intentional about how, where, and why you give allows your generosity to make a greater impact on the world and on your heart. Values-based giving transforms not only the communities you support but also you. The impact of thoughtful giving radiates outward, building up God’s people — and inward, forming you into a more faithful steward.

I know that discerning the best way to give can feel overwhelming. That’s why it helps to have a roadmap. Whether your goals include maximizing your gifts, involving family in your philanthropy, or prayerfully reflecting on where you’re called to give, creating a plan rooted in faith and shaped by your priorities will help your decision making. And you can bring in trusted partners to help bring clarity and confidence to your journey. You don’t have to walk this path alone.

The Journey Ahead

At CCF, we’re honored to walk with you to help you align your giving with your faith and the purpose God placed in your heart. Now may be a crossroad in your journey, a moment to pause and reflect on where God has led you and consider where he is calling you next. My colleagues and I are here to help you as you move forward in your sacred journey. Your generosity can become a living testament of your faith, lighting a path for others that leads them closer to God.
