Spiritual Impact Grants Plant Seeds that Multiply

Spiritual Impact Grants Plant Seeds that Multiply

Ten years ago the CCF Board of Directors set a goal that is still fresh today: to be a catalyst for strength and vitality in the Catholic community.

“We do this by proactively listening and learning about community needs, providing access to information about those needs and services to our donors and the greater community, and working collaboratively with other local funders and Catholic thought leaders to maximize the impact of our grantmaking,” says CCF President Anne Cullen Miller.

In fiscal year 2025 CCF announced two new grant programs — one supports parish-based small groups while the other aims to help parishes enhance Sunday liturgies — and increased its grant budget for professional development for lay ministers and Catholic school teachers.

Chris Nelson Named CCF President

Chris Nelson Named CCF President

CCF is thrilled to announce that Christopher D. Nelson has been selected as our new president. Chris will begin his new role January 1, 2026, succeeding Anne Cullen Miller as she retires after serving CCF for more than 17 years. Anne’s 13-year tenure as president marked a period of remarkable growth for CCF. She helped build a culture of values-based excellence, expand individual and institutional relationships, garner community trust, and build strong momentum for the CCF mission — momentum that Chris is well-suited to build on as he takes the helm.

CCF’s Board of Directors unanimously selected Chris to lead the Foundation following a broad search led by Ballinger Leafblad.

Funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) ends tomorrow amid the continued shutdown of the federal government. SNAP helps thousands of Minnesotans put groceries on the table each month, but without federal support, there won’t be enough to cover these benefits. Local food shelves are already stretched thin and are bracing for increased need. That means our neighbors, children, and seniors are already facing empty cupboards — and the need will only grow.

Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, said that an end to these benefits “places the burdens of this shutdown most heavily on the poor and vulnerable of our nation, who are the least able to move forward. This consequence is unjust and unacceptable.”

If you feel called to share your blessings to help those in need, the following list of organizations may provide a helpful starting point. Each has been screened for alignment with Catholic social teaching.
