A bequest, the most common form of planned giving, is a gift of assets (money and/or other property) that is made through a Will, Living Trust or other testamentary arrangement. No funds are transmitted or irrevocably transferred to the designated charity until after death. No estate tax will be owed on the amount of the charitable bequest. Individuals who name the Catholic Community Foundation or a Fund held at the Foundation in a Will, Living Trust or other testamentary arrangement become a member of our Legacy Society.
The following is suggested bequest language attorneys may use in preparation of a Will benefitting the Catholic Community Foundation: “I/we the undersigned, give (a percent or a dollar amount) of my/our estate to: Catholic Community Foundation in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis One Water Street West, Suite 200 Saint Paul, MN 55107 Phone: 651-389-0300 Tax I.D. #41-1744184" Language similar to the following also may be added: "This bequest is to be added to the [Designated Endowment Fund], OR be used to fund a designated beneficiary endowment to benefit (Insert name of your parish, school or other Archdiocesan organization) OR be added to an existing endowment fund in the name of (a parish or Catholic school) OR be added to the (Insert your lastname) Family Endowment Fund.” Please Contact Us for further information or assistance.
IMPORTANT: When making a planned gift (such as bequests, life insurance, retirement plans), please contact the Catholic Community Foundation whenever you choose to name CCF as a beneficiary so that we can ensure your charitable intention is fulfilled.
