Boston College Philanthropy Expert to Present June 24 Seminar for Professional Advisors
(June 10, 2010, ST. PAUL, MINN.) -- Paul Schervish, Ph.D., director of the Center on Wealth and Philanthropy at Boston College, will be the keynote speaker at a June 24, 2010 seminar for attorneys and financial advisors. Schervish is an accomplished researcher, speaker and author, and has developed what he calls biographical interviews – conversations with people about how their past and present life experiences and values are connected to charitable giving.
On June 24, he will present, “The Road to Client Service: The Practice of Biographical Interviews to Discover Clients’ Goals and Values” from 8 to 11 a.m. at The Grand Hotel, 615 Second Ave. South, Minneapolis. There is no charge to attend, but registration is required at www.givewithfaith.org or 952-417-2354. Three CLE credits are available to participants.
This event is jointly sponsored by the Catholic Community Foundation, the Lutheran Community Foundation and the Jewish Community Foundation as part of their Give With Faith initiative, an effort to promote faith-based philanthropy.
Through his work at Boston College, Schervish serves as a consultant to financial professionals and wealth holders on the patterns and motivations of charitable giving, as well as the decision making process around wealth and philanthropy. Schervish co-authored the 1999 report, Millionaires and the Millennium, which estimates a $41 trillion wealth transfer during the 55-year period from 1998 to 2052. His most recent book, Wealth and the Will of God: Discerning the Use of Riches in the Service of Ultimate Purpose, written with Keith Whitaker, has just been published by Indiana University Press.
Schervish is available for interviews prior to the June 24 seminar; call Anne Rodenberg at 651-389-0878 to request contact information.
